Alignment Psychotherapy

Intro

Welcome to my page, and congrats to you for taking the important step in seeking the support you deserve!

Psychological distress often arises when there is misalignment between the person we are in the moment and the person we’d like to be. Whether it’s internal obstacles such as anxiety, addiction, depression, ADHD, or unresolved trauma, or external obstacles such as unhealthy relationships, work demands, or various systems of oppression and injustice, there are many things in that can prevent us from identifying and moving towards our values. My primary goal as your therapist is to help you improve your mental wellbeing, connect with your values and ideals, and feel empowered to live a fuller, richer, and more meaningful life.

How do I do that? I’m glad you asked! For one, I am a firm believer that alignment in the therapeutic relationship itself can be a source of healing and growth. Thus, no matter what the content of our sessions, I take great care to build a strong supportive therapeutic alliance with warmth, authenticity, compassion, and humor. I want to know who you are and what is important to you, so that the goal is not simply to decrease distress but to increase life satisfaction. Second, I integrate techniques from various evidence-based therapies in a way that allows me to be flexible, creative, and responsive to your unique needs. The types of therapy I have experience with include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.
